Our Governing Board provides strategic leadership and holds the school to account for its educational and financial performance. They work closely with the Headteacher to ensure every child at Wincham receives the best possible education.
Both of Jo's children attended Wincham and are now at high school. She began supporting the school as a member of Wincham Family and Friends before joining the Governing board as a parent governor. At the end of her term as parent governor, Jo became a co-opted member of the governing board. Jo has experience of the education sector as a secondary school Science teacher in CWAC for over 20 years along with a variety of pastoral roles.
Gareth is an International Security and Disarmament Expert. He lives with his family to the UK and settled in Hartford.
He is currently a Senior Associate Fellow in the Proliferation and Nuclear Policy Research Group at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), and keeps himself busy doing freelance consulting.
He is a self-confessed politics junkie and enjoys listening to politics podcasts and reading political books. He enjoys socialising, travelling, cycling and long walks – not necessarily in that order.
Andrew has been a governor for 4 years, and was originally elected as a parent governor. Andrew is a local business owner and currently has 2 children at a local high school.
Matt has been headteacher at the Wincham CP School since 2017. Before working at Wincham, Matt was Deputy Head at a Warrington school, as well as having worked for Warrington LA as Advanced Skills Teacher in Primary ICT for 6 years.
When not at school, Matt enjoys long distance cycling events, gardening and DIY, geocaching and board games.
Melanie has 3 children at Wincham.
Melanie runs a company offering childcare to families locally. Melanie supports the school through WFF, however she would like to have more of an impact on the school.
Emma has been teaching since 2011 and began working at Wincham in September 2016. Her own two children attend the school and she spends most of her spare time supporting them from the sidelines at football matches as well as enjoying listening to music, visiting the Lake District and spending time with her cat.
Gary is a parent governor in his second term of office. Gary has 2 children at the school. He is a therapist working with muscular issues and injuries and a yoga teacher, living and working in Northwich.
Carl is a health, housing & social care non executive director, entrepreneur, advisor, supporter & leader of sustainability partnerships throughout the region, UK & Europe for over 20 years, developing, deploying & delivering innovative solutions, products, partnerships & facilities.
Semi retired, he enjoys his Adventures & Holidaying with his Wife & their three girls, Family & Friends. Reading, Films, Watersports, Walking, Contact Sports, General Fitness & Well Being. Carl has a keen eye & continuous commitment to health, communities, education, housing & global sustainability. A Champion of stroke, dementia, the vulnerable, dyslexia, asthma & inclusion.
I became a Governor at Wincham in 2004, was elected vice chair in 2007 and held the role of chair from 2009 - 2023. I have a business background in marketing and negotiating for a range of products in the retail industry and I have also worked in financial services, as Parish Clerk and as a Governance professional in Halton. I was also a Governor at the County High School, Leftwich for eight years.
I am privileged to be able to work with my fellow Governors towards ensuring that our vision for the school is to provide an education which fully equips all the children for life in our ever-changing and challenging world.
Shaun has 1 child at the school. Shaun is a senior data analyst working for BBC Children in Need, leading on reporting and interpretation of their grantmaking data.
Shaun is deeply committed to the ethos that every child should have the chance to thrive and be the best they can be.
Sophie has over 13 years experience in teaching and leadership roles in mainstream schools, international schools, alternative provisions and specialist schools. With a passion for inclusion, Sophie strongly supports the ethos at Wincham. Sophie has one daughter at the school and another nursery age daughter. Sophie is currently training to be a pilates teacher and enjoys spending free time exploring the great outdoors with her girls, cooking and reading.
Shortly after graduating from university with a degree in Business and Public Relations, Claire took up a managerial position in a local, family run firm and has accrued over 15 years of experience with her current employer, running the retail division of the business.
Claire is married, with three children and a dog and loves spending time with her family and friends, travelling, and baking. Her son currently attends Wincham, with the hope that her other two children will follow suit, so Claire has a vested interest in the success of the school.
