Wincham is proud to be part of Operation Encompass, a joint initiative between Cheshire West & Chester Local Authority and Cheshire Police.
This project ensures that our school is notified by the next morning if a child has been involved in, or witnessed, a domestic abuse incident. This "early warning" allows us to provide immediate, confidential support.
The Key Adult: Our trained lead for Operation Encompass is Mr. Boot (Headteacher).
How We Support: Most support is "silent." We ensure the child has a calm day, a trusted adult is available if they need to talk, and we monitor their wellbeing closely.
Confidentiality: Information is shared only with the Key Adult and handled with the utmost sensitivity.
Our Goal: To provide a safe haven where children feel supported immediately following a difficult incident at home. Parents are encouraged to speak with Mr. Boot if they need further guidance or signposting to support services.
At Wincham, we are committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment where all children can flourish. This includes protecting our pupils from the threat of radicalisation and extremism.
Wincham Community Primary School deplores terrorism of any kind and of any radical ideology. We have a zero-tolerance approach to extremism and will take all necessary actions—including working with the police and local authorities—to protect our school community.
We follow DfE guidance to actively promote Fundamental British Values, which act as a powerful tool against extremist ideologies. We weave these five values into our curriculum and daily school life:
Democracy: (e.g., Our School Council and voting for class decisions).
The Rule of Law: (e.g., Understanding our "Golden Rules" and why they matter).
Individual Liberty: (e.g., Encouraging children to make choices in a safe environment).
Mutual Respect: (e.g., The foundation of our school ethos).
Tolerance of those of Different Faiths & Beliefs: (e.g., Our diverse RE curriculum and global partnerships).
