Our Intent
At Wincham Community Primary School, our intent is to provide a holistic education that goes beyond academic achievement. We aim to nurture the whole child, ensuring they develop a strong sense of identity, a robust moral compass, and a deep appreciation for the diversity of human experience. Spiritual, Moral, Social & Cultural Development is the heartbeat of our school culture.
Our curriculum is designed to:
Encourage Spiritual Curiosity: Provide moments of awe and wonder, allowing children to reflect on their own beliefs and those of others while exploring the "big questions" of existence.
Develop Moral Integrity: Teach children to distinguish right from wrong, to understand the consequences of their actions, and to investigate legal and ethical issues with a sense of justice.
Foster Social Skills: Create a collaborative community where children develop the "Wincham Voice"—learning to conflict-resolve, lead with empathy, and contribute to the lives of those around them.
Celebrate Cultural Diversity: Ensure children appreciate their own heritage while enthusiastically exploring the traditions, arts, and values of different cultures in modern Britain and the wider world.

SMSC is the foundation for global citizenship. It is the direct engine for Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities – Our cultural development work actively dismantles prejudice. By celebrating "The Global Wincham Community," we teach children that every culture has equal value, directly contributing to a world with less discrimination.
Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions – By developing children's moral and social understanding, we are raising a generation that values democracy, the rule of law, and individual liberty. This is the bedrock of a peaceful society.
Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals – Global change requires empathy and the ability to work with people who are different from us. Through SMSC, our children learn the social and cultural "soft skills" needed to build international bridges and collaborative solutions.
