We are committed to ensuring every child at Wincham receives at least 2 hours of high-quality PE per week. Our funding is used to inspire active lifestyles and improve physical literacy across the school. In addition to this, we are committed to providing 6 weeks of Forest School teaching for Years 1-6. Each class should take part in at least 2 active lessons per week. This is funded by the Sport Premium using a subscription to Teach Active.
We use our funding to target five key areas of improvement:
Priority 1: Engagement of All Pupils Encouraging daily physical activity through high-quality resources and facilities, such as our outdoor gym equipment.
Priority 2: Profile of PE & Sport Ensuring sport permeates school life through events like our annual Sports Day and active playtimes.
Priority 3: Staff Professional Development (CPD) Investing in high-quality staff training and working alongside Multiflex Sports Coaches to ensure sustainable, expert delivery.
Priority 4: Broader Range of Sports Offering a wide variety of activities—including games, athletics, dance, and gymnastics—to engage every interest.
Priority 5: Competitive Sport Providing opportunities to represent Wincham through our membership in the Vale Royal School Sports Partnership, and our collaboration with The People's Learning Trust.
It is our goal that every child leaves Wincham able to swim at least 25 metres.
Note: Our latest Year 6 swimming statistics are available in the statutory report below.
