Special Educational Needs & Disabilities
At Wincham we support the special needs of all our children. The school has a Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Policy, which is updated each year. Children who have been identified as having special educational needs or behavioural needs have programmes of work written to ensure progress is made. Children with disabilities are supported within the classroom environment and every effort is made to ensure they enjoy a full curriculum.
Our SENDCo (Mrs Bates – 01606 668380 / senco@winchamcp.cheshire.sch.uk) oversees the provision for children with Special Educational needs and/or disabilities within the school to ensure that individual needs are catered for. Our Special Needs Co-ordinator monitors the work planned for any children on the Special Needs Register and liaises with parents and other outside agencies.
Our SEND policy is available on the Policies page of the website
Our SEND Information Report is available here.
Our SEND governor is Mrs Alison Dunabin.
The school works closely with parents and carers to support children with Special Educational Needs and/or disabilities; we encourage an active partnership. Parents and carers are welcome to meet with the SENCo or SEN governor, whenever required.
Further support is available through Cheshire West & Chester’s ‘Parent Partnership’, who regularly send out newsletters to the parents of children on the SEN register to inform them of updated information and of any courses that are available here.
