Special Educational Needs & Disabilities

Comprehensive SEND Support: Ensuring Every Child Thrives at Wincham
At Wincham Community Primary School, we are deeply committed to providing a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every child, regardless of their individual needs, can flourish. We understand that navigating Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) can be a journey, and we're here to support you every step of the way.
Understanding Your Child's Needs:
- Reasonable adjustment plans and Child Profiles: When a child is identified as having SEND or behavioural needs, we develop detailed reasonable adjustment plans and Child Profile documents. These plans are created in collaboration with parents and carers, ensuring that the support provided is tailored to the child's specific requirements.
- Progress Monitoring: We regularly review and update these plans to track progress and make any necessary adjustments. This ensures that the support remains effective and responsive to the child's evolving needs.
- Accessible Curriculum: We are dedicated to ensuring that all children, including those with disabilities, have full access to our curriculum. We provide in-classroom support and make reasonable adjustments to ensure that every child can participate fully in all learning activities.
Our Dedicated Support System:
- Experienced SENDCo: Our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo), Mrs. Bates, is a dedicated professional with extensive experience in supporting children with SEND. She oversees all aspects of SEND provision within the school, ensuring that individual needs are met effectively. You can contact Mrs. Bates directly at 01606 668380 or senco@winchamcp.cheshire.sch.uk.
- Collaborative Partnerships: We believe in working closely with parents, carers, and external agencies. We foster open communication and encourage active participation in your child's education.
- SEND Governor: Mrs. Alison Dunabin serves as our dedicated SEND governor, providing additional oversight and support for our SEND provision.
- External Agency Liaison: We work closely with Cheshire West & Chester’s ‘Parent Partnership’, and can signpost you to further support and resources available at www.livewell.cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk. We recognise that some families need additional support, and are happy to help you find it.
Transparency and Accessibility:
- SEND Policy and Information Report: Our comprehensive SEND Policy is available on the Policies page of the website and the SEND Information Report is available here.. These documents provide detailed information about our SEND provision and procedures.
- Open Communication: We encourage parents and carers to reach out to our SENDCo or SEND governor with any questions or concerns. We are committed to maintaining open and transparent communication.
We believe that every child has the potential to succeed, and we are dedicated to providing the support they need to reach their full potential.
