School day

Nursery times

Morning: 8.45am - 11.45am
Lunch Club: 11.45am - 12.15pm
Afternoon: 12.15pm - 3.15pm

Staff will meet the children by the gate at the side of the Community Centre, and will bring them to the gate at the end of the day. We appreciate that children coming to Nursery for the first time, or after a long summer break may be reluctant to leave their parents. School staff are very caring and nurturing and will look after anyone who is upset, and will discuss progress in this matter with you.

Start of the day for Reception - Year 6

A member of staff will be available on the playground from 8.45 onwards. At 8.50, children will come into school, ready to begin learning at the official start of the school day, which is 8.55.

Reception and Key Stage 1 children will enter by the blue double doors on the main playground.
Children in Year 3 Hedgehogs class with Mrs Bates/ Mrs Harrison will enter through the library doors.
Children in Year 4 Badgers class with Miss Webb will enter through the double doors at the end of Key Stage 2, by the pirate ship
Children in Year 5 Magpies class with Mrs Miller will enter through the double doors at the end of Key Stage 2, by the pirate ship
Children in Year 6 Dragonflies with Mrs Hamman will enter through the Woodland Office (previously Hedgehogs classroom) from the playground.
Children in Year 5/6 Spiders class with Mr Babington will enter through the library doors

Playtimes and Lunchtime
There will be a 20 minute playtime in the morning. Reception and Key Stage 1 children will have their playtime together, Years 3 and 4 will have playtime together, and Years 5 & 6 will have playtime together. We keep the children separate in this way to allow for better supervision of the children, and have found that this year it has resulted in fewer accidents caused as children run around and accidentally bump into each other.

Key Stage 2 lunchtime is from 12.00-12.45
Reception and Key Stage 1 lunchtime is from 12.15-1.15.
There is a 15 minute afternoon playtime. Again, the groups are kept separate in the same way as in the morning.

End of the school day routines
The end of the school day will now be 3.25 for Reception to Year 6 children. This change brings the school into line with government expectations for schools from September 2023 onwards.
All children from Reception to Year 6 will be dismissed from the main playground.

Children in Key Stage 1 and Reception will be brought out and asked to wait in line until we see the adult who is collecting them. School staff will look after children until their adult is there to collect them.

Walking home alone
Children in Key Stage 2 will be brought onto the playground at the end of the day and will be dismissed to their adult, or be allowed to walk home alone. Please complete the permission form here to allow your child to leave the site without an adult.
