Curriculum Intent
Wincham Community Primary School is dedicated to fostering a generation of global citizens. We believe in creating an inclusive environment where children learn to appreciate and respect the rich tapestry of cultures, faiths, and backgrounds that make up our world.
Our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to connect the 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development with everyday learning across the National Curriculum. These 'golden threads' empower our pupils to understand their role in creating a more equitable and sustainable future.
Our longstanding partnership with Njoro DEB Primary School in Kenya provides invaluable opportunities for cultural exchange and mutual learning. This connection allows our children to develop empathy and a deeper understanding of global challenges.
At Wincham, we're committed to equipping our pupils with the knowledge, skills, and values they need to thrive in an interconnected world. Discover how we're making a difference.

Measuring Our Children's Success at Wincham
At Wincham Community Primary School, we're dedicated to ensuring our children's progress and success. We use a variety of methods to measure the impact of our curriculum and support each child's learning journey.
- Formal Assessments: We conduct formal assessments, including Early Years Profile, Year 1 Phonics Check, Year 2 & 6 SATs, and teacher assessments, to track academic progress.
- Standardized Tests: We also use NFER Reading and Maths tests to provide additional insights into our children's achievements.
- Pre and Post Learning Mind Maps: At the start and end of each topic, children create mind maps. This helps them and their teachers identify learning gaps and track their growth in knowledge and vocabulary.
- Observational Assessment: We observe and interact with our children, gaining valuable insights into their personal development, attitudes, and readiness for future learning.
We believe in celebrating every child's progress and providing the support they need to thrive.
To help parents support their child, teachers send home detailed half termly newsletters, which outline what children will be learning in school over the next few weeks. These can be found on the class webpages.
