Children with Special Educational Needs
At Wincham we support the special needs of all our children. The school has a
Special Educational Needs Policy , which is updated each year. Children who have been identified as having special educational needs or behavioural needs have programmes of work written to ensure progress is made. Children with disabilities are supported within the classroom environment and every effort is made to ensure they enjoy a full curriculum. Slopes to enable wheelchair access have been erected and appropriate toilet
facilities made available. Extra resources are purchased when necessary.
Our SENCo (Mrs Davis – 01606 288060 / firstname.lastname@example.org) oversees the provision for children with Special Educational needs and/or disabilities within the school to ensure that individual needs are catered for. Our Special Needs Co-ordinator monitors the work planned for any children on the Special Needs Register and liaises with parents and other outside agencies.
Our SEN governor is Mrs Alison Dunabin.
The school works closely with parents and carers to support children with Special Educational Needs and/or disabilities; we encourage an active partnership. Parents and carers are welcome to meet with the SENCo or SEN governor, whenever required.
Further support is available through Cheshire West & Chester’s ‘Parent Partnership’, who regularly send out newsletters to the parents of children on the SEN register to inform them of updated information and of any courses that are available.
