Four of the Key Stage 2 classrooms are housed in a newly built extension to the right of the main building. The rooms are spacious and modern, with ample cloakroom area in the wide corridor. The other two classes are in an adjacent refurbished area.
A trolley selling healthy snacks is available at break time for KS2 children.
At Wincham school we have a peer support system to ensure that children are supported at playtimes. In KS2 this support is led by the Mentors.
Early in the Autumn term the Year 6’s apply to be accepted on the training for the Mentors. The children then attend a number of training sessions, learning how to co-ordinate team games and how to encourage others to get involved with individual or group activities. Once the training is complete the children are presented with certificates in assembly and a special yellow baseball cap which they wear when they are on duty. Each playtime and lunchtime there is a rota and six children will be on duty at any one time.
Our Mentors really enjoy their roles and responsibilities and make a positive input to the quality of playtimes and lunchtimes here at Wincham.
